The origins of science are to be found in the writings of the ancient Greek Philosophers more than 2000 years ago. These early efforts did not, in general, include the necessity for experimentation, though Archimedes is a notable exception. The advent of European wide Christianity and its ultimate authority on the creation of the world, suppressed the investigation of natural phenomena until the 17th century.
